Dubai Police have issued a public alert about a surge in fraudulent advertisements on social media and other websites that offer lucrative part-time job opportunities.
According to the Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, fraudsters use these fake listings as traps to ensnare victims in illegal schemes. These can include convincing individuals to open bank accounts in their name, which are then used to transfer illicit funds, or assigning them tasks connected to other fraudulent activities.
Authorities warn that if a victim’s personal information is misused for criminal purposes, the individual could face legal consequences.
To avoid falling victim, the public is urged to carefully verify the legitimacy of any company before applying for a job advertised online. Police stressed the importance of never sharing personal or banking information with unverified parties to prevent the misuse of accounts or illicit money transfer requests.
Anyone who encounters a suspicious advertisement should report it immediately via the eCrime platform or by calling the non-emergency number 901. Dubai Police emphasized that public vigilance remains the most effective defence against these scams.
